Pandosy Sculpture
The Father Pandosy Mission 150th Anniversary Commemorative Sculpture
2012
Bronze
The City of Kelowna Public Art Collection
This sculpture was created to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Okanagan Valley's oldest Euro-Canadian, permanent settlement: The Father Pandosy Mission, in Kelowna, BC.
The sculpture features a relief of the Four Food Chiefs of the original Okanagan/Syilx people: Black Bear, Salmon, Bitterroot, and Saskatoon. The relief also includes Syilx Spiritual Guide, Coyote.
This relief was created through communication with Westbank First Nation, and is intended to encourage an entry into awareness and contemplation of Syilx culture, and the impact settlement has had on it.
