River (2025) is a series of 20 aluminum art gates created for the Adera Pura development in Surrey. Each gate in the series is unique.
River is an ode to the wild and unfathomable Staulo, Lhtako, Tacoutche Tesse, ?Elhdaqox, Sto:lo (also known as the Fraser River).
This life-giving river embodies power and flow. The river has long been a significant and transformative force—geographically, culturally, and ecologically—integral to this region and to its people, flora, and fauna. The blues, greens, whites, and browns of the artwork’s palette symbolize the many colours the river takes on throughout its long journey. The colours shift with the seasons and as the river pours through the delta into the ocean. River alludes to nature, energy, movement, and sustenance.
